Hundreds of people were gathered outside the rapper's clothing store where the 33-year-old musician was killed on Sunday afternoon.
The memorial remained peaceful throughout the day since news of the rapper's death was revealed up until Monday night's incident. Multiple people were trampled after a stampede of people tried to run away from the scene. A loud noise is believed to have caused the stampede.
Various people at the memorial site were seen receiving medical attention from paramedics.
NBC Los Angeles reports police officers were forced to disperse the crowd away from the memorial due to the night's confusion.
In a tweet, the Los Angeles Police Department says "Our men and women are on scene and making every effort to protect everyone in attendance at the Nipsey Hussle vigil. Reports of shots fired at the vigil do not appear to be accurate. We do have injured in the chaos and are attempting to restore order."
